iPhone and ipad versions not syncing progress

RK 12 years ago updated by chris 11 years ago 25
I'm running ios 6.1 on both the ipad mini and iPhone 5. Both are the latest version, both on wifi and both have icloud on. Help please.
Thanks for putting this into a separate bug-report Ryan. We are currently looking into this issue, as it's the first time we've had this reported.

We'll be in touch when we have a response or a solution.
Thanks Lewis I really love the game, I'm patiently waiting for a solution! :)
BTW I've noticed that under icloud there is no Quell file under documents and data.
I have had this problem for several weeks now, and it would be great if I could get some help. I have quell running on my iPhone five and my iPad mini. Both devices are running the latest version of iOS, and are logged into iCloud. I have solved several puzzles on my iPhone and none of the progress syncs over to the iPad mini. This is very frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ICLOUD.
Ok - so we have a theory as to why this might be happening, but it's not confirmed.

We think that it is occurring to people who updated the game but didn't delete the previous install (and nor were you asked to).

It looks like the iCloud functionality hasn't fully integrated with the updated version of the games, and thus your saves aren't being synced.

New players, or players who (for whatever reason) had deleted the previous version, do not seem to be having any problems.

Solution: If this is the case, there's nothing we can do to fix the issue. Deleting your game and reinstalling may well fix it, but we cannot ask people to do this as YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR SAVE GAMES.

However, if anyone has finished the game, and wants to undertake this course of action, we'd love to hear if it worked or not.

Thanks for your patience, and I'm sorry we don't have a better solution.

Lewis
Ok, I couldn't stand the lack of functionality. I deleted the app on both devices. This did NOT fix the problem. Ugh.
Ugh indeed :(

Ok - well, as painful as it is for you - really sorry about that - this is useful for us, as it indicates that we were wrong in our theory, and there must be something else happening here.

We'll look into it, and repost when we have a further response.

Apologies again - but thanks for your help. Once we've isolated the issue, we can fix it in time for the next game, as well as update previous ones. It's a strange one because it works for most people, including us.
Any solutions? The lack of sync is killing me and preventing me from buying the new version. If you have to, call the developers at Zeptolabs. Their games sync perfectly. Maybe they can tell you why you're doing wrong.
We've implemented a new, more rugged cloud-sync methodology for our latest game, Quell Memento.

If this continues to prove to be the better technique, we will roll this into the new update for the previous games.

Do you have Quell Memento, RK?
Hey Lewis, thanks for responding quickly, I'm glad you're trying a new sync method. As for Quell Momento, I have not purchased it yet, because I was a bit scared off after this syncing issue, although I'm extremely interested in that game.
Quell and Quell Reflect on iOS have been updated to support the more reliable cloud method which should solve this.
Thanks Louis, I can confirm the problem is solved!
Excellent, RK. I take it the new update fixed the issue?
Exactly, the new update did the trick.
Hi Lewis,
The newest update broke syncing again! Help!
So here are some details about what happened. I had to restore my iPhone from scratch. So it was basically like a new iPhone. I've then installed quell on my iPhone. My game progress was still on my iPad. When I opened up quell, for the first time on this iPhone all of the game progress was gone. The game progress remains on my iPad. Both my iPad Mini and my iPhone 5 or on the latest iOS 7 software.
Is there any way for me to tell if it's syncing correctly?

All my other games (P v. Z 2, Fiekdrunners 2 ) are syncing just fine.
I haven't been able to sync my nearly finished iPhone game with my fresh iPad game, ios and game versions are current.
Maybe add a manual save to iCloud and a manual load from iCloud.
Same for me. Sync never worked.
We've discovered that some people with this issue have found that a reboot of both devices solves the problem. Sounds silly - but worth a try!
Thanks Lewis,
However, I tried that but I still have no iCloud sync. I even killed the app on both devices before rebooting them. Still no joy.

Quell:reflect does not even show up in the preferences. (iCloud > Documents & Data, where all the apps with iCloud access are listed.)

I use an iPhone 4s and an iPad 2, both devices are on iOS 7.

Thanks,
chris
Hmmn. That's interesting that you don't see in in the iCloud settings list. I do and I know most other players do.

Ok - we'll keep investigating. Have you tried reinstalling it to both devices?
Only on the iPhone so far, as I do not want to lose my progress on the iPad. I still cannot see it in the iCloud settings on the iPhone.

By the way, the background music now also does not play anymore - on both devices. (Game sounds still work fine.) That's a topic for another thread but I thought I mention it here just in case it might be related to the iCloud issue somehow.
Quick update - after rebooting the device, music is back again. So it seems unrelated to the iCloud sync issue.
