Mysterious red ring after finishing a stage in Memento...what does it mean?

Love the Quell games, thank you guys so much for putting them out for Android! I've got a question about Memento. I'm seeing some stages show up with a red ring on them after I've solved the stage. What does that red ring mean? I'm probably missing something painfully obvious...

Hi Kristen,

the red ring means that the level is a 'timepiece' level.

Under one of the blocks is a red ring that acts as a portal to a hidden level. See if you can find it! There are 24 to be found in total.
